Kitchen Options, Inc. of New England, known as Kitchen Options and K.O.N.E., was founded by Ray Lentine. Ray’s experience with refacing started back in 1986, when he witnessed the transformation of his Mother’s kitchen. His Mother had several estimates for a complete rip-out they were in the upper teens. (Today, that same kitchen would cost in the lower $30s.) Ray’s brother suggested looking into something that none of the other Lentine’s had ever heard of: Kitchen Cabinet Refacing. The estimate came to just under $6000.

This was 1986. She sold her house and moved to Florida in 2000. The refaced kitchen, 14 years later, looked like the day it was installed. The house was on the market for just a few days.

Also in 1986 Ray became the Northeast Marketing and Sales Manager for a national franchise called “Mr. Build.” This was a franchise that took existing contractors and gave them a recognizable name. The time with Mr. Build introduced Ray to all phases of home remodeling. He learned the inner business working of everything from plumbing to electrical, from framing a house to finish carpentry, from ripping out kitchens to kitchen refacing. He learned that kitchen refacing is the most desirable way to rehab a kitchen inexpensively.

Ray stayed with franchising till 1994. He then became the New England Sales Manager for Sears Home Central Kitchens. In that capacity Ray supervised the installation of over 900 kitchens per year and for an 8 year period, Ray was responsible for over 7000 kitchens. No one, absolutely nobody, has that experience. Ray is one of the most knowledgeable kitchen experts in America.

K-Mart bought Sears and things changed. Ray left and started his own company. Not only did he take with him the craftsmen, but something just as important – product. During those years with Sears, Ray experimented with different doors, hinges, drawers, countertops, sinks, faucets, etc. When he left, he took with him relationships with the best manufacturers in the industry. Today, Kitchen Options of New England is the largest independent refacing company in the Northeast. It has offices in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Also, if there is a gathering of people anywhere in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, such as County Fairs, Craft Fairs, Town Festivals, Balloon and Food Festivals, etc. we are usually there with a large booth. Finally, since 1990 Ray has hosted his own radio program. It started on a small 5000 watt station, but by 2001 it was on radio stations all over the country. It was called “The Ray Lentine Show: The Business of Owning a Home.” In the fall of 2009, after Ray and his wife adopted two girls and the very large success of Kitchen Options, Ray, with regret, ended his show.
